Mini Cakes For The Win!

I love mini foods when it comes to hosting any type of gathering! From finger foods, to grazing boards, or the infamous charcuterie board! I love giving guests a variety of tasty bite sized options! And since Valentines Day is a month away, I thought these mini heart stacked cakes would be a great addition for a Valentines treat, Galentines party, or even as a treat for mom on Mother’s Day!

Simple & Delicious!

For these cakes we keep it simple by pouring the cake batter onto a sheet pan and using a round cookie cutter to cut out the mini cake layers! Once you have all your layers baked and cut out, you can whip up any buttercream or frosting you like and start stacking and frosting! For these cakes I kept it simple and used a vanilla cake recipe with a strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream! If you want to elevate the flavor, I love piping a dab of fruit filling in the middle! For these mini cakes I used a homemade strawberry jam!

Powdered Sugar Is Your Friend!

I wanted to keep the decorative process as simple as possible so I used what I already had and added a little powdered sugar heart on top! I decided to decorate half with a heart and half with a swirly mound of strawberry buttercream for a pop of color! To create the heart shape, I used a set of heart stickers from the dollar tree! Keep the sticky side stuck to the paper and just cut around the heart with a pair of scissors and there you have it! Your very own heart stencil! Then all you have to do is place the stencil where you want it & let the powder sugar rain down! So no need to stress about your piping skills for this one, just grab some powdered sugar and have fun!
