Why A Mini Sized Wedding Cake Could Be A Great Option!

Slow & Steady Wins The Race

I started baking at the start of 2021 and “slow and steady wins the race” has been my motto ever since! As a self taught baker, you learn as you go and trial and error becomes a way of life! Which is why I’ve dedicated this space to document my losses & wins in hopes to help you find success on your baking journey! And thankfully this mini sized fall wedding cake was a ‘mini’ success and it can be a lovely addition to any celebration!

Mini Cakes Hold So Much Charm!

One of my closest friends got married last Fall and asked me to whip up a cake that would look great for pictures, but small enough for just the bride & groom to enjoy! I decided to go two inches smaller for each tier and used a 4 inch cake as the top tier & a 6 inch cake as the base. I was initially worried that the cake would look too small or disproportionate, since I had a hard time finding any tier cakes this size as a reference, but it came out beautifully! Still a lot smaller than a typical wedding cake, but held so much charm!

BTS of me putting the finishing touches on the cake! You also get a better perspective of the size of the cake! No taller than 4 packs of plastic plates!
Mini Cakes Are Cost Effective!

A mini cake is a wonderful cost effective option, especially if you’re working with a budget! Although smaller wedding cakes are not a “new idea,” I have not seen many small two tier cakes and it’s a wonderful way to keep the elegance and tradition of a tiered cake while keeping it simple & lowering the cost! Instead of serving slices of cake, we went with cupcakes! Not only are they lighter on the wallet, but it takes away the mess of serving and is a great option to allow the guests to grab & Enjoy!

Instead of serving slices of cake, we provided the guests with a cupcake station! Easy clean up and everyone gets to grab their own treat! We also had fun with Fall Flavors! Pumpkin spice with Brown Butter Frosting & Oat milk shaken Espresso!
Have Fun & Make It Your Own!

Less cake doesn’t have to mean a cake with less value! Dress it up or dress it down! Make it your own and have fun with it! I hope that my experience with making my first mini wedding cake inspires you to get creative and give ‘mini’ a try!
